Sorry for the confusion.
I can't imagine using aftermarket for the parking brake shoes will matter. I can't think of a reason why they would actually be worn too much unless they have been dragging. If they have been dragging, they might have worn a grove in the inner "rotor" surface. In that...
Aftermarket rotors are "hit miss" in my experience but I have them on both of my 4runners. I've never had an issue with wrapping but they might be noisy from time to time. Then tend to "flash rust" from moisture or rain. The rust will make noise.
I would never use anything but Toyota brake...
AC cycling off and on.
The 4th gen has a harsher step up than the 5th gen. AC will cycle on and off if you have it in Auto climate setting unless you click the AC button to turn it off.
That is the only thing I know that would cause a 300 rpm swing. My penny.
Only thing I'll add is that brake fluid can be clear and have way too much water in it. Not saying you have that issue. The only way to know for sure is the use the strips to test it. I've never gone through the effort to buy them. Just replaced the fluid. You can't see the rust (dirty fluid) in...
If you have OEM CV axles and the boots rip or leak, buy a boot replacement kit. You can't do better than OEM axles. Especially if you have a lift. Not that difficult to do if you are DIYer. The boot replacement kits are as good as the boots on any axle you can buy aftermarket. If you buy the...
I have two 05 4runners. One from Virginia and one originally from Missouri.
1. You can buy the entire led replacement that includes the lens/cover that just "plugs" into the original bulb socket. Screws are always rusted. The screws will come out easy. Just replace.
2. If the model is a...
I put a Napa axle a couple months ago. Only have a few hundred miles but I liked the quality of it. Smooth.
I used the more expensive NAPA axle with the upgraded boot material.
There is very little doubt any full time 4wd V8 4 runner with 200,000 plus in it has some "Play" in the front diff. Mine does. I probably have 10 to 15. It is probably more in the front ring gear/pinion than the transfer case. You can have the backlash adjusted/shimmed and some of it will go...
Again, you show how little you know about transmissions. Slipping from clutches usually involve multiple gears. Fixing a bad clutch requires tear down. It may very well be an issue in the valve body that can be fixed without a tear down.
Lubeguard is a friction modifier. Slipping is often associated with binding parts that restrict flow. Lubeguard will definitely help if this is the case. Cheap and can't hurt.
My rattle was more to do with the glass dropping too low on the passenger rear corner. I found where someone put some tape layers in that area so the glass would wedge like it should. Stopped mine completely. Tight as tight can be.
Did you take off the Transmission oil cooler? If so, you might have introduced dirt or trash into the system. Doesn't take much to stop up a ball in the valve body or a screen somewhere.
Just realized you haven't done the radiator yet....
Put some lubeguard in it. Can't hurt and it just might...
