Mine does the same. The black rubber accordion covers on either side seem to be the source. Try removing them and see if it solves your problem. The pop right out. The lower attachment doesn't seem to be tight enough.

Did the repair on all four doors of my 4th gen many years ago. This is a great write up for the 5th gen. Just did my drivers door in 40 minutes. The 08 and 16 lock assemblies look the same.

My bad diff bearing made the most noise between 10 to 30 mph. It would fade at higher speeds. The frequency of the noise changed when turning but not when shifting vehicle weight. The noise disappeared when put into 4wd. These were the biggest clues that it wasn't a wheel bearing but...

Did you check the drivers side bearing of the front differential? I just had mine replaced at 22K miles in a '16. They replaced both driver side wheel bearings before figuring it out. It sounded just like what you described. Supposedly there is a Toyota technical bulletin out for it but...

Is it possible to refit a cargo tray in a 5th Gen that originally was not equipped with one? If so, is it worth the effort?

Thanks! That article was a big help and may have helped me make up my mind. I'm with you, the reservoirs look to be different lengths. Not sure how it affects it's ride or capability.

I'd like to know also. They look almost identical. This was the set up I was considering for my new '16 TEP. You may want to repost under 5th Gen instead of 4th to get a quicker response.

Okay, I think I found that the steering wheel controls will still work however can some confirm? Haven't found any info on the aux audio jack. :(

Are you still able to use your steering wheel controls and aux. audio jack?
