Mount Video out on youtube Its been a while since I last posted about this, but I made a video showcasing how I mounted my transmission. I'm sure I left a few things out so if you have any questions let me know! I haven't made a full video on the 4wd swap process and I'm still deciding if I...

    Possible 2wd to 4wd conversion

7 years later I come with answers lol.... the trans are identical aside from extension housing, missing one bolt thread and a longer output shaft. Theres about a thousand videos on how to convert any A340 from 2wd to 4wd as the modification is quite simple. If your handy I bet you could do it...

    4WD conversion

I'm most likely gonna make a youtube video before I make a write up on here as there is a lot of information to cover and a video is just easier. I'm thinking I will make the video within the next week, I'm still tinkering around with things.... Ducks write up is great, but as someone who knew...

    4WD conversion

Do you know what a socket is? Lmao what you’re saying makes no sense anyways. It’s not all about the money some people enjoy building something and being able to call it their own. If you have ever worked on your truck before or done a project by yourself then you would understand this. Besides...

    4WD conversion

Good guess, but I made sure to check that they were installed properly (you can see them through the ABS port on the spindle). I'm thinking its an issue with the ABS sensor itself.

    4WD conversion

That's really good information. For the mount I did use the 4wd mount as the 2wd mount would not bolt up to the transmission. I used the factory bracket from the 2wd as it bridges the gap of where the 4wd crossmember would sit. I am actually moving to a Trail gear skid/ crossmember. I had to...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I drove it to the lake i drove it to the lake lol. Last week I finished a 2wd to 4x4 conversion though!

    4WD conversion

Also another note, I did not have a donor vehicle and I was able to source all the parts including interior trim pieces through local junkyards, ebay and facebook market place. Aside from the manual hubs you couldn't tell this was ever a 2wd truck in the first place. I think with how many...

    4WD conversion

I'm actually gonna disagree with that entirely. I didn't do any welding or custom wiring. This swap was completely bolt on for me and I retained the factory crossmember location and 2wd bracket that's used to support the transmission. I'm curious if you could add some detail on what you wired...

    4WD conversion

Yea I plan to make a youtube video after thanksgiving. I just finished the front end work this weekend and can finally say I have a fully functional 4wd converted 3rd gen 4runner! I'm really happy with the way the swap turned out as you cant even tell that it was a 2wd drive truck in the first...

    4WD conversion

Its not as hard as it seems here to resurrect this topic lol. This swap is actually a whole lot easier then alot of people make it seem, most things are the same between these trucks and if u have an auto you do not need to swap the ecu. The shift points on the trans are the same in fact they...
