I put in a kenwood a few months ago and it shut off 3 times but the gauges stayed on. I'm assuming a loose or hot wire. What head unit? When mine was first put in they tried to salvage the factory xm wiring and that is what was giving me issues

Ok4wd had deals on certain pairs right now I want a better head unit that will use google maps - I dont care about anything stereo other than work phone calls, xm radio, and real time good maps. If anyone sees a deal on something they like I'd appreciate it

Your jeep is a rare breed now - I think xj till 01 and yj? Till 03 where the reliable years. The newer stuff is a different layout all around. The xj design was basically unchanged for a few decades

Sell that on Ebay I bet you break 19k - lots of people would like to build up a low mileage v8 and are looking for all those creature comforts. The same type who drop 90k on landcruisers... great find and congrats!!!

Looks like a helicoil to me but makes you wonder how that chunk got in - must have been retapped twice or improperly. Not saying to worry at all but may be worth another swap to make sure its cleaned out. What plug is in there now?

Saw a voodoo blue with the new rack for the first time in person this weekend and did ot like it personally. Color doesnt fit a 4runner to me and rack is too tall for my taste

A new truck from Japan should run as such - you bought a 4runner for a reason and got a don lemon - dont fix it just replace. Going piece by piece on what I assume is a daily driver will be bottomless. Get into some new wheels!
