60k Service - "Engine Valve Clearance"?

Tery, I did. :) and you don't need to check it. But I was also told on the LC forum that I didn't need to check the valves on my 95 LC but I did it anyway. Because like you I am also very anal about my vehicles :) I learned on my 95 and won't check my 4runner or 99 LC. Let us know what you...

    Toyota Showing Achilles Heel

The plant that the 4runner is built, is in Japan and is the only Platinum rated auto manufacturing plant in the world (JD Power). It is also the most automated plant in the world. Yes there can be design problems. Not normally with Toyota/Lexus but shat happens. About a year ago GM was doing...

    V8 Tranny Filter Change?

You don't have a filter on this transmission only a screen. I would be more concerned with the flush and the word "conditioner" that was added to your transmission. Nothing but transmission fluid should ever go into a transmission. Many owners have reported transmission failure a few KK miles...

60k Service - "Engine Valve Clearance"?

If you want, post this question on www.ihmud.com 100 series fourm. I also have a 1999 Landcruiser with the same engine that is in my 2004 4runner V8. Some of the LC owners have 100 series with over 150K miles on them and "NO ONE" checks the valve clearence and no one has ever had a problem...

60k Service - "Engine Valve Clearance"?

Valve adjustment is not a maintance item at any mileage on the V8. Don't let the dealer screw you with this unneed service.

New 06 SE, pissed off already.

You would of liked some of my old cars. Back in 1971, when I got out of the USMC, I bought a 1969 Chevelle SS 396 (375hp) had the 3 dueces, it had power brakes but no power steering. You really had to muscle up on it when you downshifted taking a corner. Also had a 1967 Camero convertable RS...

New 06 SE, pissed off already.

I recently had an alignment done on my LC and the local guy cocked the steering wheel just barely to the left for me, it is perfect for driving on the highway since now my forearm can rest on the door arm rest and my hand fits perfectly between the two spokes on the left side of the wheel. :)...

It shouldn't take over 45 min's to put your 4runner on the alignment rack and straighten your steering wheel and reprogram your new key. If it takes longer they are screwing with you. Good luck.

New 06 SE, pissed off already.

Why aren't you standing in the GM's office telling him all this crap? I would call him up and make an appointment to see him tommorrow in person. Tell him how pissed off you are at all of the BS and tell him you want a personal meeting with him to tell him exactly what you said on this site...

Twisted Off a Stud When Rotating Tires

One thing I learned is that when you use an extention on your torque wrench it multiplies the torque. When you do a tire you have to use an extension to reach the nuts so I bet you were way over the torque limit. Most dealers use torque sticks that keep them from over torqing the lugs. I...

how do you prefer to wash your baby

I live in high desert country and both my vehicles are silver color. Not much rain here only dust. Vehicles look clean for months at a time. Bottomline where I live you keep a good coat of wax on it and rinse the dust off every couple of weeks and your good to go. No salt on the roads and no...

    Synthetic Oil

Your analysis is totally correct. Change the oil at required intervals and use a good quality oil filter and you won't have a oil related problem because of the oil. Use synthetic if you like or live in area's that see extreme conditions. I would reather use synthetic because I'm a maintance...
