Valve adjustment is not a maintance item at any mileage on the V8. Don't let the dealer screw you with this unneed service.

Your analysis is totally correct. Change the oil at required intervals and use a good quality oil filter and you won't have a oil related problem because of the oil. Use synthetic if you like or live in area's that see extreme conditions. I would reather use synthetic because I'm a maintance...
