Replacing factory stereo and "Party Mode"

I just had a Kenwood DDX8706S installed with a Maestro interface & Toyota harness. "Party Mode" still functions and there was no mention of any special measures taken aside from a custom harness required to retain use of the shark fin antenna for SiriusXM. PS - wireless Apple CarPlay is awesome!

Front TRD Pro Skid Plate Install on 2010-2013 SR5's (no KDSS)

Hi all, anybody have any first hand experience completing this install that they can share ('10-'13 SR5, non-KDSS)? Toyota says the '14+ TRD skid is not compatible however I've been reading for a few hours and found 1 abandoned install and 2 successful w/o detail around how to successfully...

Looking for a Cargo Carrier for rear hitch.

I bought the 22x59 Rola Cargo Carrier from etrailer.com and love it. I also bought the Rola rainproof cargo bag and LED light kit. The carrier is heavy but stout and will hold 600 lbs. etrailer also beat Amazon pricing. So far I've hauled heavy stuff like bagged mulch, rock, and loaded...

This time the brakes didn't work!

Review your state Lemon Laws since this could a considered a safety issue. Within the last month, I have firsthand knowledge of a defective 2015 Avalon with <1000 miles on it that Toyota replaced. This particular vehicle had electrical gremlins and randomly would not start. The dealer was...

    Tire/MPG Question

I was surprised to find that new TRD wheels + load range 'C' BFG KO2's in stock size cost me ~1.3 MPG. The KO2's are ~6 lbs/tire heavier than the stock Dunlops. Not sure about the TRD wheel weight differential. In the end, I don't really care about the MPG hit since I gained the performance...

    Towing Help!

I am surprised by the feedback in this thread. A 4,000 lb. load (80% of Rating), w/Weight Distributing Hitch, w/Brake Controller & Electric Brakes, is a stretch for normal towing in hills? If yes, what is the PRACTICAL weight limit? Which performance area is deficient in this scenario...

    Dealer service, driveshaft grease fail

It's always wise to audit any claimed dealer services. In my case, I met the conditions to justify the "Severe Operating Conditions" schedule in the manual and requested the designated services via voicemail to the Service Writer, dealer appointment form online, and affirmed again live (being...

2013+ model Rooftop Cargo Carriers and 5th Gen

Using Toyota crossbars, my Yakima Skybox 16S does not contact the satellite antenna once the bars are adjusted and the Skybox is oriented properly fore & aft. The top of the rear hatch does very slightly touch the rear of the Skybox lid when open but it doesn't interfere with use.

    Info on these TRD wheels

I got these last week from Olatha Toyota as they have the best price I could find. Tire/wheel combo looks much more aggressive in person. I like 'em!

    Cargo Cover and Passenger Safety

Loose cargo is lethal in a crash. The cargo cover is just that - a cover to conceal. It isn't designed to retain anything as the rear retainers are just soft flexible rubber. A cargo net fixed to the attachment points on the floor works pretty well though.
