    Backfire/Studder under acceleration

That's awesome!!! I'm glad I could help out in some small way. I did learn a lot of diagnostics when I made this thread which has made me understand my 4runner a lot more. It's good to know this thread has helped at least one person.

    Backfire/Studder under acceleration

i find it odd that the one on the truck now wouldnt have a rubber gasket. i doubt its a tight enough fit to protect from all water.

Its possible but unlikely that the rubber gasket would create a big enough gap to cause the sensor to not work. Does it feel like its not seating right? what brand did you go with?

I'm pretty certain that if the sensor is on its way out it would act the same as what i had going on. Unfortunately getting to it does require removing a few things to get to the sensor.

yeah, I haven't been off-roading since I moved from colorado 3 years ago. I didn't know there was much more than mudding here in iowa until recently.

Yep, It was definitely you. Its good to see other modded 4runners roaming around in Iowa. You're the first one i've seen that wasn't just stock, I rarely take mine to Des Moines. Its a long trip with gas being so high.

Spotted silver lifted with aftermarket bumper I was in West Des Moines yesterday and spotted a nice silver limited 4runner with a lift and an after market bumper(looked like a Shrockworks or a CBI, it was hard to tell from the distance i was at). I was on mills civic headed to I35 south. I...

where might one find said OEM pinion seal?

    Leaking Diff?

In that case I probably wont do the bearing then. I don't think its gone out yet. I checked for movement in the drive shaft and it didn't budge when I tried to move it up and down and side to side. I just figure they were in the same area and if one was to be done then the other might as well be...

    Leaking Diff?

I haven't noticed any strange noises associated with a bearing going out but i know noise isn't always present when they go. I'll probably just have them both done so I don't have to worry about it. I figured it was the pinion seal but I always double check so that when I go to the mechanic I...

    Leaking Diff?

I was walking up to 4runner today when I noticed a softball diameter sized pool of fluid under the truck. I naturally crawled under to look and make sure it was mine and saw this: Any idea what this seal might be called?

Third Row option... no mini van please

The 4th gen with an added third row is still in the running but the Highlander did impress me with its AWD feature, decent gas mileage and price range.
