    My Money Pit (Build Thread)

Now now, I have the engine but just no time. I still plan on maybe doing it. Life is keeping me very busy.

    My Money Pit (Build Thread)

Been a while since I posted. Here is some progress with the build, I needed more storage so I built a full size rack. Made of 1" I think, Shc40 Black Pipe. Total rack weight is about 100lbs or more. I know, not light  But it will eventually become a part of my exo cage. Oh...

What is your experience with wheel spacers?

I run Spidertrax spacers and have had zero issues with them. No vibrations either.

    My Money Pit (Build Thread)

I'm sorry I am not willing to dish out the cash on an ARB bumper. Its not meant for looks. Needs to get me from A to B on varying terrain usually muddy trails and very dense forests. The front end needs to be able to handle deer strike and push through thick brush. I'm also not 100% sure I'm...

    My Money Pit (Build Thread)

Sorry for the wait. Here are a couple of the rig as she sits now. Also did a couple mods. I will try to get some pics next time I go off road. Bye bye ash tray, hello pitch and roll gauges! There was a sale on these FIAMM trumpet horns so I decided to give them a try. They aren't too bad...

Feel like I have a bird living in my dash....

A good fix for this is erasers. Go to Walmart and get yourself 3-4 of those soft rectangular, white erasers. You could plasti dip them black if you want. Then stick them in there evenly spaced and voila. This windshield/dashboard chirp is common on a lot of imports. This is a trick my buddy...

    My Money Pit (Build Thread)

Thanks, although I had to remove them unfortunately as they were too heavy and I kept ripping off the fronts going through thick brush, after many attempts to rectify the problem, the plastic clips would not hold up. Ended up loosing one and so I said screw it and took the rest off. Replaced...

Bent rear axle; USDM T4R in Australia

How hard is hard? Holly smokes, Axles are one of those things that are usually pretty hard to bend. You must have bashed her pretty good. Not 100% sure but I am assuming a 3rd gen Hilux has the same axle. Just make sure the diff's are the same gear ratio.

    gas mileage decrease with 285s

Thought I would share my experience. I used to get a consistent 400kms a tank before my lift and tire swap. I thought I'd be getting worse mileage with my 285/75/16's but I'm still touching the 400km's a tank mark. Yes the car does feel a bit more sluggish and the driving style never really...

    CV clicking

When a CV axle goes bad usually what happens is the bearing inside wears a pit in the outer race due to lack of lubrication or contamination such as dirt from a torn CV boot. The bearings then skip over this race every time you tightly turn and the bearings travels longitudinally along the race...

    Illegal to weld to frame?

Thanks, Good to know, I guess I feel a bit better now. Still going to check them every time I change oil. We should all be doing this.

    Illegal to weld to frame?

If you were to go strictly by the book with a fine tooth comb when it comes to inspection regulations in all states or provinces I'm sure most of the cars on any forum would fail for something. This is the same reason its easier to pass at a privately owned garage with a down to earth...
