    1985 4Runner - British Columbia, Canada

Hah, I don't intend to beat my truck up off road either. Just the usual forest service roads here and there to take me to some more remote hiking/backpacking areas. yeeeeeah, there is a whole story that goes along with that picture/trip haha. Long story short: There was an accident on a...

    1985 4Runner - British Columbia, Canada

Thanks Riff! Yep, it definitely did. The new owner bought some replacement, fiberglass quarter panels and is repairing all the rust. He is going to make it mint. He has a black '85 pickup that is absolutely beautiful; not a spec of rust. Looks like the back to the future truck haha. Got quite...

    1985 4Runner - British Columbia, Canada

This forum/community has always been a wealth of information, and for that I say THANKS! I know that someday I'll buy another '85 4Runner - hopefully when I have a house and garage. For now I'll just stick with one truck.

    1985 4Runner - British Columbia, Canada

Hey there BoatRacer. This steering wheel is only found in CDM and JDM AE86s (GT-S). The ones in the Mr2 are a bit different. I use to have an '85 and '87 Corolla GT-S and both of those had this wheel stock. It took me a very long time to find one. I ended up finding two (go figure) at basically...

    LS and other engine swaps.

If I ever get the money together for a swap in the future I would swap in a 12HT from a Land Cruiser into my '85.

You know your driving a classic TR4 when...

...when I hop into my '85 and my sister bangs on the passenger REAR window telling me to unlock the door... ...when you're looking at for sale ads and the seller doesn't post whether it is a manual or automatic; but knowing its a classic there's, still a good chance it could be a manual...

    1st Gen T4R Picture Gallery

Have spent nearly every weekend this summer exploring the mountains around me. I'll update my build thread shortly. Here's a shot of my 4Runner on the way to a 3-day backpacking trip I did this past weekend. 4Runner by Tanner.K, on Flickr

    n00b here with an '89 T4R.

I just love when I buy a new vehicle and it comes with tires! Sure does make the journey back home a little easier! haha, I'm just kidding :D So far your 4Runner is looking great. Like Kid said, keep an eye on the timing chain. Well mainly the plastic chain guides. They're really the only weak...

Changing clutch on 93. How many parts should I scrap?

Good to hear that you got it done Alex, Congrats! I bet it made quite the difference. I know my 4Runner needs a clutch soon; trying to make it last as long as possible for now :D

Changing clutch on 93. How many parts should I scrap?

$2000 for a transmission replacement? No, you can find used ones for a couple hundred bucks on CL. The gears in a manual transmission "mesh" together. So you either have a working gear or you don't. Only part that could be slipping in OP's case would be the clutch. I too believe you're talking...

    1985 4Runner - British Columbia, Canada

Hey everybody! Haven't really done much to the 4Runner lately. Just cleaned the heck out of it on Friday, then took it for a nice drive up to Squamish, BC for a day of hiking. Before I left this morning I quickly put on my new steering wheel. I've been searching a looong time to find this...

Changing clutch on 93. How many parts should I scrap?

Given it's all going to be taken apart to replace the clutch... I would also replace: - Throwout bearing - Pilot Bearing - Front seal on the transmission (mid as well since it's apart) - Have the flywheel machined - Clutch fluid The clutch master and slave cylinders can always been replaced...

    COB's 87 4Runner Turbo

Wouldn't adding paint to it make it heavier; which in turn, would make it slower?
