800 miles on it and its falling apart...

$48,000 4r Earlier in this thread, someone asked how you spend $48,000 on a 4R. It's easy. Our 4R Trail cost $47,815, plus all the extra crap they add on. But that's in Canadian rasbukniks which were only worth about 75 cents US when we bought last September. - Ted

A dinosaur still roams the Earth.

4R Trail Of all the other machines mentioned in the article, only the 4R Tail and the Wrangler 4dr will take you off road and give you the storage needed for a decently long trip. We traded our '15 Wrangler JKU on our '16 4R Trail and there is no comparison. The 4R has it all over the Wrangler...

    KDSS(TE) vs Non KDSS (SR5)

No KDSS Well, the truckhas the overhead knobbies, and the shifter gives me a locker option, so this rig will take me anywhere I want to go. And I don't give a sh-t were it fits in on your list of desirable goodies. - Ted

    KDSS(TE) vs Non KDSS (SR5)

KDSS or Not KDSS, That Is The Question. Last September we traded our '15 Wrangler JKU for a '16 Canadian Trail. I didn't know what KDSS was, but I knew our Trail had it, because it was listed onn the brochure. Our first long drives were on twisty roads and I was amazed at how much more...

    Rain Guards/Window Deflectors

Weathertecs. Had Weathertecs on our '08 Mitsu Outlander and recently put them on our '16 4R. No noticeable wind noise. - Cheers, Ted

    Weathertech Side window Deflectors?

Weathertecs We had Weathertecs on our '08 Mitsu Outlander for 6 years and never a problem. Tried AVS on our '15 Wrangler and they were OK, but went back to Weathertecs on the '16 4R Trail and everything is jake so far. And they do look a lot better than the AVS. - Ted.

    Texas to Montana

Montana In Montana I'd suggest the old 1860s gold rush town of Virginia City and the general locality. It has a lot to offer, from the robber's graves on boot hill to the unique old stores. And don't miss nearby Bannack State Park, with many well preserved homes and businesses, including the...

    Weathertech window visors falling down

Weathertecs Had Weathertecs on our '08 Mitsu Outlander for 6 years with no problems. so went with them again on our '16 4R. No trouble to date. Check with the company and I know they will stand behind their product. Good luck with it. - Cheers, Ted

Real World MPG with 5th Gen?

Tire pressure The dealer set the tires on our '16 4R Trail at 32 psi and we were getting about 19 mpg on short trips in fairly mountainous country. I always ran my previous 4x4s at 35 psi so just upped these. In 2 weeks we'll be heading off across the mountains to visit family in Omak, Wash...

Weathertec window shades John: You certainly have done a lot on your truck. Not so much here, but I did buy a heavy duty come-along to pull us back out of a jam. It will lift 2 tons or pull 5 on the level, and only weighs 16 kg. And, yesterday, installed Weathertec window shades so we can...

What's causing my Duratracs to cup

Duratracs Something happened with my message as it should have read that I would suspect misalignment. Is it just the front tires or all four, and what pressure are you running? - Ted

What's causing my Duratracs to cup

Duratracs Our '16 Trail, new last September, came fitted with Duratracs. It's our only driver but we don't do a lot of miles during the winter. Still, no sign of cupping, so I would definites? - Ted.

    Trail Edition spare tire?

Spare Our new '16 Trail came with Goodyear Duratracs fitted but with the standard oem spare. We had a Duratrac fitted on the spare, no problem, except for the $$ it cost. Still have the oem spare for sale, cheap. - Ted.
