Yea I get it but I’ve had several older cars, twice the age, that have not rusted at all. If it started on the outside, I get it. But this rusted from the inside out. This will be my last 4runner!

Hi all, I've had to install new lock actuators in all my doors. The last one left is the tailgate. Does anyone know the actual brand of what Toyota uses? The other doors were Aisin. Is the tailgate one Sheemar?

Does anyone know what brand the tailgate door lock is? I know the other ones are aisin. Is the rear one aisin too?

Curious if you think this would be covered by the rust warranty? Seems like there is a spot rusting from the inside out and the lock is rusting.

The heat shield that is the farthest back by the tailpipe has come lose. I tried to zip tie it up but it seems like that is coming lose slowly. Any other options? Can I use self taping screws to go back into the frame? Or what else would work? Thanks

If you go this route, make sure it is working before you close the door and put the panel on. My first one I did perfect but my next one I messed up. Luckily I didn’t put the panel on so I was able to break apart the housing and release it with a screw driver. I needed to buy a actuator from...

So looks like when I put it together, I didn’t align something up properly. So had to open the case and break things apart on the actuator to get the door open. So I ordered a new actuator. Rock auto has several manufacturers and found aisin one which is the same one that is in there for $116...

Now I am following you. I thought I disengaged the child lock before closing the door by guess not. So I was able to push the cable in to release the child lock. Still nothing when I connect the interior handle or used the exterior handle. I have tried flipping it back and forth a couple times...

Not sure if I’m following you... but I have the inside panel off and I am able to fit a screw driver to the child safety lock and it in not engaged. When I move the rod back and forth by hand it does nothing and I can hear it in the actuator moving freely. I moved the inside panel as close as...
