Well, the jobs done! 3.5 hours from start to finish. I did not find what i was expecting when i got the starter out. I was able to come straight down with it so that was nice. The PO replaced the lovely Denso starter with a World Class Remanufactured (Remy) 17239, and what a POS. Filthy...

Well, to tie this thread up, I ended up taking it to another shop that I'd had my eye on. The original quote was $100 less than the first shop and I ended up paying $1035 for waterpump & seal, timing belt, thermostat & seal, tensioner, rollers, upper and lower radiator hose, and coolant flush...

I'm getting the feeling that it wasn't changed at 105K as stated.

So I got the quote and here's the breakdown: AC Delco water pump & timing belt component kit - $467 Camshaft seal 2 @ $14 Crankshaft seal 1 @ 13 Coolant & shop supplies $57 Labor 5 @ $96 = $480 With tax = $1,150 I trust this shop but the component kit gives me pause. I'm thinking of tackling...

Well - it's confirmed - leaking at the water pump. $1150 estimate. I'll love to see the timing belt and see if I was lied to about the belt and WP being changed at 105K.

I haven’t got it on ramps yet but it does appear to be dripping from right under the alternator and near the oil filter. If it is a hose or clamp I’m not sure I could get to it to replace. Let’s assume it isn’t the water pump - can this be replaced without incurring water pump replacement...
