For what it's worth, I had the same issue as Lil_B. One broken wire in that harness, right at the top of the lift gate. Whenever the wire was open, the LED on the rear defrost dash button was lit, so something was drawing power. I doubt the LED was enough to drain the battery, but it was flat...
