I checked for leaks and everything is good. It is a basic SR5 with a V6.
Welding is not an option at this point since I don't have the equipment for it. In other words, I will replace the both cats with new ones. It seems pretty straight forward on the V6.
2005 SR5 4runner with 265K miles. I keep getting fault codes for cats, mainly bank 2 but bank 1 comes on randomly as well.
I tried various cat cleaning additives but it doesn't work.
All O2 sensors are replaced.
Any recommendations on aftermarket cats? It seems to be a big variety in price...
Well, I was shooting from the hip and decided to replace all the coils even though it didn't make sense. Maybe they were all about to go bad.
Problem solved! No misfire and no O2 sensor fault code! Car runs perfect again. I am not sure how the P0420 went away but at this point I am just happy...
Thanks for the tip. I didn't see anything abnormal in the overflow tank or the radiator. fluid looks normal and no weird smell. Engine oil looks normal too.
I will try to get a cooling system pressure tester to be 100%.
Thanks

2005 4runner 262K miles. I used a tester from Autozone and had a battery charger connected.

Any input welcome!

I don't really understand how the codes can be related. Isn't bank 1 passenger side?
I replaced the spark plugs and...
SR5 V6 with 247k when I replaced the alternator with an aftermarket Duralast (none reman) from Autozone.
Still have the original water pump at 248K which is unbelievable.
I think this might be what you are referring to.

I have considered plastidip, still waiting for an answer from the "Plastidip company". I have used it in the past on smaller items but not on a whole dashboard.

Thanks for the response. I looked at a few local salvage yards but the dashboards are not that great, or at least not worth the work of replacing the current dashboard with.
Found this, not sure if I want to invest this into a 05 with 248K miles.

So my 2005 4runner Sr5 have a few cracks in the dashboard. I have started to get really tired of looking at them and trying to find a way to fix/improve the dashboard.
I know about the recall in the past. At the time I actually didn't have a single crack. In other words it is the original...
Front bumper needs to be replaced without doubt. Seems to be quite a few options available.
