    Whytey's '07 V8 SE Build

Appreciate it! Looking at potentially doing the Tacoma grill mod this summer and had seen someone mention on one of the grill threads something about the hood latch. Wasn't sure how that played a part or if it was something to be worried about.

    Gimli's Surprisingly Light Overlanding Build

You're a braver man than me on the seals! I think I'd definitely go the pipe route to fit them. Appreciate the info though on the axle nut -- I hadn't thought about AutoZone rentals for it.

    Gimli's Surprisingly Light Overlanding Build

For sure -- the 2 tools I'd need to acquire/borrow were the BFH or a slidehammer to get the CV out and the massive socket to get the axle nut off. Maybe it's a good excuse to get that DeWalt Impact I've looked at haha Also ya the seal part for sure made me think twice. I'd prefer to do the work...

    Gimli's Surprisingly Light Overlanding Build

Thanks, I've been doing some research on the process and what it would actually take to do. I'll probably go the CVJ route, as even though it's not gonna be a rock crawler or anything too extreme, I'm planning to build something out that can get me off the beaten track, plus deal with the...

    Anybody form Illinois?

I'll second the shop request -- just bought a 4th gen living downtwn. I know I'll have some work in the future and would love to know a good 4x4 shop. I'm figuring there's gotta be some in the suburbs but would love a recommendation. The Toyota dealership downtown isn't exactly the ideal spot...

Would you mind sharing some info on the CV replacements? I know these are probably in my future sooner rather than later as they are starting to show some cracks but no leaks yet. I inquired at the dealer last time I was there and I think it was about $2500 total for both. I know you used OEM...

    Bucket list items/projects

Awesome, thanks! I will take a look! I know I had been grabbing some ideas on here from some of the 4th gen threads, and even before I bought it I had started looking around at ideas. Having some actual plans to look at/see what it would take would be hugely helpful for the future!

    Bucket list items/projects

I just picked mine up so obviously the list of small things I'm trying to pick up is pretty long and boring so I won't go into that. It's the obvious stuff for making it a bit more capable while leaving the mechanical stuff pretty much alone since it's winter, I live in a cold snowy city, and I...

Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

Great thanks! Did the badges the other day but wasn't sure how tough the grill would be on the truck plus it was getting cold here doing it in the street haha

Looks awesome -- did you take off the Chrome to spray them or do it on the car? Looking at doing the same with my silver 07

What's your plan for CV's? I know these are in my future and would love ideas on options. Awesome build!
