Well, I installed Poly Steering Rack Bushings and I welded up the Joint in the steering column yesterday... Steering feels AMAZING....
STILL have wobbles.... I'm thinking I'm going to buy a set of Moog bushings. All Lowers and Uppers.. I will probably grab a new set of OEM upper ball joints...
Im looking for a new steering coupling, the part is 45$ from camelback, I was wondering if anyone had measurements.
That's a part I'd be fine with using a universal "fix it" part on... It's just a chunk of rubber, if anything, the solid aftermarket ones would be stronger.
I know Dorman has...
Stumbled across this researching an FZJ80 axle swap for my 98. I miss my jeep and the pleasures of solid axle... Not to mention I have dumped a grand into my stock IFS and I still get steering wobbles....
My jeep was 3 linked in the front, with heims on all of the links except for the axle...
it sounds just like a point of slop between turning left and returning right or vice-versa.. Both new racks I have gotten made the sound.. I was hoping id find a bad bushing yesterday just so I can diagnose it.
I really don't want to change them if I don't have too... $160 is a lot for 4 lower...
Well, I was able to get my truck on a lift.
I tried to pry and pry on the lower control arms, and visually inspected them. I couldn't get any movement up/down or in/out... They seemed tight. Visually, I couldn't see any cracking or anything on them. The only movement I could get out of them...

I actually have greased all of the U-Joints, but I am sure some fresh ones would be beneficial. Im pretty familiar with what bad ujoints feel like, as it happened in my jeep regularly. This really feels like a suspension problem, more a steering shimmy than a driveline vibe!
so yours didn't wobble until around 50mph or so?? mine seems to clear up above 75 or 80... how bad was it to change you lower control arm bushings? press in and out?
It's not driveline vibes like a bad u-joint. It's a shimmy/vibration in the steering between 55-75... it makes my steering wheel wobble, etc...
Imagine Death Wobble(if you had a Cherokee, you should have experienced this once)... just not as severe as death wobble...
I actually used to have a...
I have rotated the tires in infinite orientations, and it hasn't affected it... I have had them balanced at two different shops also. I don't have access to a Road force balancer anywhere within an hour and a half from home...
Im going to try swapping the wheels and tires from my Father's...
OK, sooo
This is a copy and paste from another thread I have.... I NEED this wobble fixed!!!
