Can you suggest a link to look for factory parts? I know you went to junkyard, but it's been my experience to just pay the extra the first time for a new part that will last.

Do you think these lights are legit? https://www.am-autoparts.com/AM/Headlights/Toyota/4Runner/1999/AM-15504906/ I assume the bulbs are the same for both, correct?

However, my other car does have auto-up on both driver and passenger, but has a pressure sensing system, so it stops if something gets in the way of it going up.

My '97 only has auto down on the driver side. Everything else has to be held, up or down. I think auto-up wasn't put on for safety issues, in case someone got an arm stuck in there as it was going up on its own.

+1 I've had experience with Silverstars and they are horrible in the rain. The pure white light just gets "drowned" out. Check out this website for info on good non-HID headlights. Shipping is really fast from them. I'm running some H1 +30's on my other car and they provide good output...

I'll try not to steal this thread but I thought this might apply here. My headlights are giving me really poor light output, so I took them out to try to clean the insides. Now, I can't open up the lens to clean them out. Does anyone have any ideas? Do I need to bake the assembly to soften...
