    Coolant Leak identification

All, Need some help identifying a coolant leak on my 01 4WD. Unfortunately I’m thinking it’s the DS head gasket but wanted to confirm. The leak is intermittent, and usually worse when the car is cold. Haven’t noticed any overheating, even with my 60 mile commute to work each day. It appears to...

Powering Gauge Cluster Outside of Vehicle?

Hello, I am trying to power up a gauge cluster on a 99 4runner SR5. I found one at a junk yard and wanted to give it to my Dad as a Christmas gift if I can get it to light up with a battery and put it in a shadow box. I specifically want to power up the odometer and a couple accessory lights. I...

Looking for Transfer Case Wiring Harness

Hey Guys, I'm looking for the wiring harness that connects the 4wd ECU to the transfer case on a 2001 4runner. It's a flat 6 pin to the transfer case. Called the Toyota dealership. They were no help as usual, wondering if anyone had a part number or one sitting on a part-out vehicle. Thanks

    Wanted: 2001/2002 Transfer Case

Looking for a 2001/2002 Transfer case, preferably with the actuator still attached. Will pay for shipping, or pick up within 8hrs of Salt Lake/Denver. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Strange 4WD Engagement Issues

Update Update to the pending issue: I am able to get the 4runner into 4H (center diff unlocked) by: 1) Jump transfer case actuator into 2H position 2) Plug connector back into tc actuator 3) Turn car off/on (causes ADD to shift into 4H position) 4) Press 2-4 selector switch to 4wd position 5)...

    Strange 4WD Engagement Issues

I jumped them using a 12v battery with some alligator clips on wires. Jack the car up so all 4 wheels are off the ground. For the front diff actuator I applied power to terminals 2 and 6 and could verify by spinning the tires that the diff was locked/unlocked. Same process for the T-case...

    Strange 4WD Engagement Issues

Hey all, I've scoured the forum and haven't been able to find anything similar to the issue I'm having so here goes: (2001 4runner SR5) A few weeks ago I attempted to shift into 4WD with the 2-4 selector switch and the indicator lights just kept blinking. A few days after that the button was...

    01 4Runner Won't Disengage 4WD

Big Update! I tried to jump the actuator and it sounded like it wanted to go but couldn’t. So I pulled off the actuator cover which also houses the motor and low and behold some of the connection channels are broken. At this point there are 2 options, try to solder in the connections which I’ve...

    01 4Runner Won't Disengage 4WD

Well I caved and took it to the stealership for a diagnostic. They told me the T-case was bad told me they could replace the whole assembly (T-case and actuator) with a pre-used assembly (126k miles) for 1400.00. Definitely not gonna do that but when I asked them if they could manually shift it...

    01 4Runner Won't Disengage 4WD

I'll give that switch a shot. I replaced the two on the rear of the T-case but those ones up top are a pain to get to. This morning I lifted the front tires and was able to get the front diff actuator to engage and disengage so I don't think that's the problem. I unbolted the T-case actuator...

    01 4Runner Won't Disengage 4WD

New user on the forum but been using this site for pretty much everything since I bough my 01 4runner. I'm having almost the identical problem as the OP, but up until a few hours ago she was stuck in 2H. I've replaced both position sensors on the back-end of the T-case and I couldn't hear the...
