    3rd Gen T4R Picture Gallery

Got stuck this weekend in the sand. Wasn't planning on doing anything crazy, but it was too fun to pass up. Didn't have much gear with me, but I managed to get out with the factory jack, and my little emergency axe. Nice little bit of flex for stock suspension. Really need a rear locker!!! Cheers.

    Radiator hose ID

I have done some forum/google searching, but I can't seem to find a firm answer. I would like to know what the inner diameter of the lower radiator hose it for a 3rd generation 4runner (3.4L). I moved way north and need a block heater, but I am reluctant to pull a frost plug, so I am looking...

    1366 km trip

Hello T4R, Just completed the first half of the trip with my 4R. Really happy with the performance. I have averaged so far about 23.1mpg fully loaded to the roof, and on pretty hilly highway. Outside temp has been running low 30s. Distance measured with my gps. Anyhow, few things have come up...

    Manual Transmission Shudder on Takeoff

Yes, I agree. I have heard of engine/tranny mounts causing this problem too. I wasn't sure how this could be diagnosed until now. Thank you, I will try your method. However, considering how violently it shakes some times, I might wonder if the engine would be shaking no matter what. As for fast...

    Manual Transmission Shudder on Takeoff

Hello! I have a 1999 SR5 and I am experiencing the exact same problem. It also seems to occur more severely when warm. I have researched this a lot, and it seems the most likely candidate is a pressure plate with hot spots...

    Fightman's Build Thread

Yes, I agree! I would love to. In the short time I have had mine, I have already encountered a few problems and completed some fixes. If you text (and if you would like) I can PM you my phone number. We can try and work something out.

I may have a BIG problem!

Check the oil on your dipstick, does it look normal? Also, take the radiator cap off (make sure your motor is cool). See if you have oil mixed in your antifreeze. A radiator hose leak is not really scary, but the fact you are mentioning what looks like oil in it may be something for more concern.

    Manual Transmission Chatter when warm

LOL, no I never clutch dump. Just talking about letting off the clutch during regular acceleration. I would rather have a little extra rpm there as I let the clutch out than bog the engine. As per the toyota owners manual, constant bogging can be hard on the engine. Thanks for the input...

    Manual Transmission Chatter when warm

Yup, I do the same. My idle is about the same and it idles smoothly. Thanks for the input! Much appreciated. I haven't really noticed a difference yet when it's been wet/humid out. I haven't really driven it enough yet. I will definitely pay attention to that though.

    Manual Transmission Chatter when warm

Might be a pointless thing to ask, but I am curious. I have always brought the engine to 1000-1500rpm for accelerating from a stop. I've always been a pretty smooth driver in manual vehicle, I just keep wondering if it's me doing something wrong. What's your method?

    Manual Transmission Chatter when warm

Hello T4R.org, I have searched out a few threads on this topic, but I didn't find anything answering my question. I was wondering if anybody had an opinion on the matter or experienced this before. I have a 5spd 1999 T4R with the 3.4L V6 (SR5 model). She seems to run really good, but I do...

Hello From Northern Ontario (3rd Gen)

Hey fightman80! Thanks for posting the pic. Looks awesome. Yup, the code turned out to be an O2 sensor. Will be fixing it soon. As for the bogging, it's not come back too bad yet. I think it was mostly my driving style. We will see if it comes up again. Fingers crossed it doesn't. It was...

    Rear Window Failure 99 (Pics)

Well... I have two small holes in the 4runner. One is in the rocker panel, and one is right where the rear wiper arm connects to the tail gait. It's small, but allows moisture and rain water in the hatch. I think that's what may have led to this... so yes I believe you are right.
