Toyota's fairly infamous for the poor finish of their alloy wheels. But it's not just Toyota. I'm a recent convert from Jeeps which had similar clear coat issues w/ alloy wheels.
After nearly seven months of searching we finally got our new 4Runner!
We started with an admittedly narrow set of criteria but ended up "compromising" on some things.

You shouldn't have any trouble with Antero in a T4R. But I wouldn't count on doing it in June. You should check again before you head up since we've had a lot of late season snow this year and trails are expected to open later than usual ... if at all. In fact, we're getting hit again in...

I've calmed down after my frustration rant of Friday. :cry:
We re-evaluated several other vehicles firsthand yesterday and I still don't see anything else I like as much as the T4R. As much as I've always been a Jeep fan, I really didn't like their latest version of the Grand Cherokee.
So...
Yep, I've been looking as far away as Houston area on CL, Autotrader, Cars.com, Carsdirect, and Vehix.com. If there's another TX-specific search I'd appreciate hearing about it.

We were microscopically close to finalizing the deal on one today. All through the check-out process didn't find anything major just a few nitpicky little things - no deal killers.
Then.... we couldn't get 4Lo to engage. Uh-oh. Tried multiple times with and without the parking...
That's a good point and helped push me off the fence to the 'drive it' side. There's over 15k left on the factory warranty so in the long run the 500 mile delivery drive is approaching trivial. Besides, it's a good shakedown drive and if something happens en route it's still their vehicle...
