    **SOLD** '89 4Runner in Wisconsin, $2900

I didn't do the bumpers, the previous owner knew a guy that did them. The front bumper and top rack/light bar were done first. After I owned it, I started thinking about having the back and sides done. After I nearly ripped the back one off on a wheelin' trip in Death Valley, I had a great...

Frame mounted trailer hitch, reciever, 1st gen

From an '89 4R. I had a new bumper built with the reciever built in, so I no longer need the standard trailer reciever. Pretty beefy, not sure what other Toy's it will fit. $30, no shipping. Near Appleton WI. Post here or call me at 360-969-0399.

    No start for '89?

Tried again this morning, she coughed and sputtered and finally started and settled into her normal idle. Must have flooded it or something. All is well again!

    No start for '89?

Without warning, no start this morning. Cranks over fine and sounds normal doing it; not excessively fast. Seems to have decent spark, and plugs all come out wet, so I seem to have fuel. Tried drying them and still nothing. Checked fuses, they all seem fine. Any suggestions?

Squeak/scrape coming from driveline on my '89

Phlbert, good call on the driveshaft, the Toy dealership confirmed that it needed to be replaced. $550 for the part alone, ugh...

Squeak/scrape coming from driveline on my '89

I think you're right, so I'm taking it in tomorrow. Hopefully they can get this done quick, I'm supposed to go crawling in Death Valley this weekend.

Squeak/scrape coming from driveline on my '89

Re: your driveshaft is about to fall off - no joke So, what exactly is wrong? I checked the bolts, they're tight. I greased the fittings on the U-joints. What is the failing point, and what do I need? Driveshaft, U-joints, rear end, new truck (lol)?

Squeak/scrape coming from driveline on my '89

Ok, I'm no mechanic, but what in the world is on the inside of a driveshaft that would make noise? I was under the impression that they were hollow, or even solid...

Squeak/scrape coming from driveline on my '89

Tried that already, ran it through the gears, it only seems to make the noise under power/load. I did hear a tinging noise that sounded like it was coming from inside the driveshaft, near the rear end.

Squeak/scrape coming from driveline on my '89

I'm a little worried that I've got something about to fail. What I'm hearing is a squeak, or sometimes a metal-on-metal shaving type of scrape when I'm under power. The noise has gotten progressively worse and more frequent. It happens in forward and reverse. I've poked around underneath and...
