What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

There is 3.25" shaft showing at ride height on saggy OME 891 coils. I am not terribly worried about bottoming out as it's a daily only. I went with the 4th gen shocks mostly to have more options at a better price.

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Ended up making my own outside shock relocation mounts for $10 in steel versus $220 for the snowbound customs ones. Used 4th gen 4runner 0-1.5" lift shocks (FOX p/n 985-24-124). Ride is much more predictable now. It felt like a slinky before, but then again the Icon shocks were blown out from...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

$200 DIY ($130 for projectors/bulbs/wiring, $70 for new housings) You can easily resuse your housings, one of mine was just cracked. Bi-Xenon: ACME H1 Standard Projector System Retrofit Kit I've never done them before, but I'd recommend trying yourself. It's as easy pulling the glass off the...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Finally got my retrofits and color matched grill on. Built with ACME projectors/Apollo 3.0 shrouds and new housings. Easily the best $200 upgrade you can do. I sprayed the grill with a paint from Automotivetouchup.com. Hard to get the gold to match perfect, but still looks better than the fading...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Got my timing belt, valve covers, rear brakes adjusted, and new intake on. Also got some new 285 Falken's on last weekend. Drive's like a whole new car, and ready for another 140,000 miles.

What did you do with your classic T4R today?

Nothing was modified. He ordered me a new windshield, the original idea was to try and save the old one, but after watching him take the old one out there is about a 99% chance it will crack no matter how careful you are. He took a good 30 minutes with a grinder and got rid of the rust build up...

What did you do with your classic T4R today?

Got rid of my leaky windshield after 8 years of owning it. Was able to find someone who knew what they were doing and replaced all of the chrome molding with a nice rubber seal. Makes it look a heck of a lot better, even with all the dents.

    86' 4runner gets VooDoo'd

Where did you find the dorman freeze plug? I just finished my 3rz swap and looked all over for one. I currently have 2 dipsticks until I could find one.

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

After 6 months of having sliders in the way in my garage I finally welded them together and put them on. 4runner is more protected from shopping carts now.

Manual Gen 5 4Runner - for all longing out there...

That's why they make dual (or triple) cases. You get more gear options than you can imagine to bomb as fast or slow up any hill :gun6: Swapping the auto out of my first gen was the best mod I ever did. While it may only have 30hp, it's much more enjoyable to drive than my auto 3rd gen.

3rd Gen Dorado Gold Picture Thread

I guess i'll update the pictures of mine since stock. Icon lift with 285/75/16 KO2's on trd beadlocks. The grey of the wheels made it look a whole lot less gold.

Using a CB Antenna for a Radio

I just got done replacing my stock antenna with a CB antenna yesterday using the CBI antenna mount. Besides the regular CB items (whip, coax, mount), you'll need a splitter to take the cb coax and allow you to plug up to both your radio and cb. This is the one that I bought...

Show me your auxiliary Fog or Driving lights!

I got some 2" round LED's off amazon and made some aluminum brackets to adapt to the stock location, using the stock pigtail for wiring. I was trying to keep the factory look without cutting a giant hole in the front of the bumper for a light bar. For how small they are, they are still brighter...

Best lift option for 285/70r17 tires

You can fit 285's without wheel spacers (that's what I run), it just depends on the specs wheel, and getting control arms helps with the extra caster. You could also consider 255/80/17's instead of 285's. They're a hair taller (a true 33), but a good bit narrower. Not sure on what tires you're...
