Mine's the same way, light comes on at like 13.5 gallons. I usually just set the trip meter and fill up before I get to 60 miles and I usually only fill up to 16 gallons or so.

I'm assuming you got a wiring harness for the new radio? Just disconnect that from the stock harness and pull the wire connector off the back of the new radio. You will just have to look up and down each wire and make sure it doesnt have any bare wire exposed. Also may check out the fuses on...

Sounds like a short, you could try just disconnecting the wiring harness and put your old radio back in and see if the problem continues. If they work with the stock radio then double check all your connections and use electric tape at the least.
