Good info, Thank you. In another thread, 96RedRunner said he had a similar problem around 300k miles. Said he pulled the cluster and lubed it with 3-in-0ne Dry Lock Lube. I'll try it, if it doesn't help I'll spring for a local Toyota shop to look at it.

Interior is 9/10. Both rear bumper caps are dented, and paint is sunfaded from being in AZ for 20+ years with a few paint chips. Mast antenna is stuck in the up position (can hear the motor run when turning the truck on and off) speedo/ODO only work when they want to.

In AZ, paid 2800 for a 98 sr5 5speed 4x4 w/ 300k miles in February. Bought it for my son from the original owner, no modifications. Needed new tires and was due for a timing belt kit.

Removed the sad worn out clutch torsion spring and installed a linear spring in its place. Now my son doesn't have to lift the clutch with his toes while driving. Great mod found here on the forum

Resurrecting this thread I found this thread while searching the internet for a fix for my non working Speedo/ODO code p0500 problem. I've read through it as well as a few others, and am still at a loss, I appreciate any help I could get resolving it. I purchased a 1998 sr5 4x4 MANUAL...
