OEM Brake pads Advics or Akebono?

Hello to all, and a question to all: I know that Advics supplies the Tahara plant with brake pads for the 5th gen. To my knowledge, all 4runners were assembled with Advics pads. So now, I've been finding Akebono pads listed as OEM pads on various web OEM part stores, and not the blue Advics...

Reasonable labor or total rip off...I vote for the latter

Shops don't charge on elapsed time. Each procedure has an estimated completion time attached to it, and even if it doesn't take that long, they charge the shop time. So, power steering might be an hour, brakes might be 2 hours and diff might be an hour.

    Secondary Air Injection Valve Stuck

If you have the 2443 code, it's relatively common when it's near freezing and humid. The valve develops a layer of ice (frost) which delays opening long enough for the valve timing sensor to trigger the code. Just start the engine and go for a drive. When you get back, clear the code. If the...

    Struts or KDSS

If you like the current ride quality, then you don't have to change springs. If you're going to add weight (bumper, winch, skids, sliders, rack, tent, etc., then consider purchasing a spring with a higher spring rate (stiffer), and a longer spring if you plan to add lift.

    Struts or KDSS

If you have a problem with the kdss, the warning light would illuminate. When you turn the key and all of the warning lights come on, check to see that the kdss light illuminates and turns off. If it does this then the system is ok, and you probably just need new shocks. 5100s fit inside the...

    Neutral Safety switch issues

If the shifter won't release from the Park position, you may have a problem with the Shift Interlock Solenoid, not the Neutral Safety Switch.

Anyone have PDF of 2018 TRDORP service manual? (doing brakes)

Toyota changed the front caliper mounting bolt size from 17mm to 19mm, around 2016. The lower torque value is for the smaller bolts. Your '18 has the19mm bolts @ 137 ft.lbs. The older 17mm bolts use 91 ft.lbs. Pages 304 & 307. The rear slide pins are 65 & the rear caliper mount bolts are 74...

    Rear wiper issue

You could try to disconnect the battery for awhile to reset the hatch module. You may have to reset the window travel limits (push and hold for a few seconds when it's all the way down AND all the way up).

    Brakes locking up

The gas tank is on the driver's side. When the rear end unloads during sudden braking, the right rear lifts more than the left rear due to the weight imbalance.

    Idle Air Control Valve Gasket

Is the air conditioner on when this happens?

    2019 4Runner starting issue

My guess: The Neutral Safety Switch is telling the engine control module that you're not in Park so it won't let you start the engine.

    ECGS Bushing long term reliability

Hello fellow 4r owners. I've searched but haven't found answers to this question; For those owners who have installed the East Coast Gear Supply bushing in place of the needle bearing, how many trouble-free miles (or kilometers) have you travelled on the bushing? I'm trying to determine it's...

    Transmission fluid "temperature mode" OBD2

If the temperature of the WS in the transmission is the same as the replacement fluid, then you can replace with the same volume. If the fluid in the transmission is warmer than the replacement fluid, then you can replace by using fluid mass. Get a kitchen scale and weigh the volume of fluid...
