Yes Wilson is correct... do check! Obviously the HYQ1512Y does work with many 99s, but in my case it did not. The parts guy felt that the HYQ12BBX might replace a couple of older models but did not have any way to confirm this. I wonder if this has something due to date of manufacture...?

So I have finally found a remote that works. After discussing my problem with the dealership parts counter, the guy that I was working with ordered a new remote based on the VIN.... and the remote is a HYQ12BBX. Programmed first try no problem! If anyone is interested I can share more...

I am actually planning to go to the dealership for some warranty work (different car) and I am going to see what I can find. Hopefully something helpfull! I almost just purchased the "ban" remote to try it, but I decided to wait and see what the dealer guys say... Tom

FYI - I have a 99 Sr5 and the HYQ1512Y does not work with my 4runner. It works on my neighbors 00 Limited but not the SR5. Not sure why but just thought that I would share. Tom
