    Front Rod/cooler Rack Install

Snowfx: I also was concerned about blocking of cooling air so I kept close watch on my temperature gauge on my recent trip up to the Outer Banks (OBX). No problems - the gauge read the same with or without the rod rack and cooler and the weather was hot for the trip so I had the A/C on the whole...

    Front Rod/cooler Rack Install

A thought about adding pictures to a thread; 1. I don't know how to do it other then using the album provided. Not the most efficient but it works. 2. The album permits searching and more importantly allows you to put commentary with each photo which cuts down on guessing what the photo is all...

    Front Rod/cooler Rack Install

If you're a surf fisherman you understand the front rod rack. At home I just use it to carry my rods to the beach, however, I can't drive on the beach on our island. I do go up to the Outer Banks (approx 300 miles) and NJ (approx 600 miles) and in both places I drive on the beach so my T4R...

Is everyone running 87 Octane in 2010 4Runner?

Been running 87 since the day I got (Dec 2009). No problems even with most of the gas having ethanol in it. Runs smooth and am averaging 21 mpg, except when I tow my boat. Don't see a need for more expensive octane.

    Front Rod/cooler Rack Install

Had and expensive ($600) fishing rod/cooler rack I took off my Tahoe when I bought the T4R, naturally wanted to use it. Searched a ton of hitch makers, most are supplied by Curt, but couldn't find a front mounting bracket. I could have gotten a rear swing away mount to fit into the rear receiver...

    12VDC Outlet

Atomic: Firstly, on my 2010 I don't have an AC outlet in the console. Beneath the radio I have a DC outlet that is ignition controlled, and a socket to connect my IPod, all the rest is storage compartments. Secondly, I don't like taking too many plastic parts apart because sooner or later I...

    12VDC Outlet

Finally got around to installing a 12 volt outlet that is not switched off with the ignition. Not an overly complicated job but took 2+ hours since I needed to be careful with the plastic parts in the console. 1. had a 12 volt socket scavanged from a bad battery power pack. 2. pulled console...

    Mud flaps, Ventshields, & Accessories

AVS Bug Deflector Sorry I didn't have time to post pics of the install but Sporty87 covered it very well. His machine looks great and truly, the install was about as simple as you could want - 10 mins max. It fits great and I decided not to use the plastic bump protectors. The AVS window vents...

    Loving my 5th Gen!!!!

Congrats and welcome to the club. It is a nice machine, good balance of style, size, economy. Keep checking the forum for ways to improve your machine, there is just so much you can do and the group really spreads a lot of info about parts, mods, repairs, and just general improvements that will...

    Mud flaps, Ventshields, & Accessories

T4R Accessories Finding accessories is a pain, but do-able. This forum has lots of advice about where to get stuff both from Toyota and after market. For example: I bought Toyota Running Boards from Dyer Toyota, SE distribution. Got the info off the forum and e-bay. Couldn't get factory boards...

    Frame Differences '09 - '10

Been wanting to buy a front hitch receiver for my '10 SR5. Hitches On-line does not have one for the TFR but the Hitch Store does. However, the Hitch store version is the same model number that is offered only for the '09 FJ & 4Runner by Hitches On line. Since there is a $40 difference and I...

Running Boards cost to order and Bull Guards ?s

Running Boards Using info fm Ralphpit, PUK, and TheDude I ordered RB's from e-bay, item 250563104283, Toyota number 00016-89035). They come from SE Toyota Distribution through Dyer Toyota in Colombia, SC. Placed my order Monday late and Thursday early they were sitting in my driveway. Price was...

    Windshield wipers

I found the same, no noticeable noise. I also agree about the rear wiper, it is disappointingly short and too far off to the side, however, since I never had one in my Tahoe it is still nice to have.

    All weather mats

Ordered rubber all weather mats from Weather Tech, front and back. They were in stock and came lightning fast. No Toyota or 4 Runner logo on them but they fit great. Driver's side a wee bit large but not a problem. So far they have done the job catching sand and gravel bits from my driveway. I...

    Oil Change Interval

Picked my 2010 5th gen up on Dec 19 in Myrtle Beach, SC. Salesman went out of his way to emphasize 10,000 miles for oil changes since they are now using 0W20 synthetic oil. In the little pamphlet they include about maintenance he crossed out the 5000 miles and wrote 10. However, he further...
