Hi all, I usually avoid the dealers but a time crunch forced my hand after stripping threads on an alternator bolt (female threads). Brought it in to dealer service techs and they said they could fix it and I said great! Got it back and the bolt keeps turning just like before. I assume a tech...

Thank you for all the replies haha this post could've certainly been taken the other way :) Kind of you all! I have since accepted what happened and rly this engine is amazing......As an aside did the valve covers a few months ago and the engine was CLEEEEEAAANNNNN.......perfect even....

For the water pump I just needed to drop the tensioner assembly enough for a bolt to clear the top of it, so I did not go about actually changing it...I have no knowledge in the a/c world haha completely not in my brain sorry :(

Didn't fail just something I wanted to do and learn !! This truck has taken over my life...... I wish it was just the ac compressor though, gotta have the tensioner drop down as it is in the way of a bolt, and the power steering pump has to come off too, and the alternator!!! And 2 of 3 idler...

It's very fair, certainly not a flaw you are right :) Everything has a purpose I suppose!!!

only 150k or so, I (notwithstanding the state of mind I was in) find it enjoyable to work around the 4runner for the most part so I figured I'd go ahead and get a new pump and thermostat in....Just watching videos of people working on the earlier 1grfe had me in tears haha
