    Surprise re: V6 Engine

I live in Canada where 91 is about $0.57 more per US gallon....that is on top of the $4.72 I paid per US gallon for 87 when I last filled up....keeping in mind that the Canadian dollar is currently worth more than the USD.

    Surprise re: V6 Engine

Time and time again I have read reports that using higher octane gas in a new vehicle designed for 87 octane is a waste of money. I bought off on that thinking on the assumption that the primary purpose of higher octane is to reduce knock when compression ratios are high. Given all the...

    Surprise re: V6 Engine

Wikipedia has the following write-up about the v6 engine in the 5th Gen: I bolded what was surprising to me: that the hp and torque figures are both pumped up with 91 octane gas. I had no idea.... The 1GR-FE is the 4.0 L (3956 cc) version, designed for longitudinal mounting in RWD and 4WD...

    Suspension Advice Sought

Thanks again - I apologize in advance for this noob question, but is replacing the springs instead of,( or in addition to) upgraded shocks also an option? And 5100 all around? the rear ride height is not impacted by new shocks as I understand?

    Suspension Advice Sought

Thanks for the responses! On the other side of the coin - are there any downsides to the upgrades shocks or is it all "up" side? I imagine the impact of the 0.85'' increase (at most, if the rear stays level) in the centre of gravity is negligible - it was really my only concern - we will be...

    Suspension Advice Sought

Hi Everyone: I am brand new to this forum. It has been an excellent source of information to me. I have a 2012 Magnetic Grey SR5 with upgrade package. All of 100 miles on the odometer. This is my first truck, my first SUV and my first 4wd vehicle...up until this point we have owned honda...
