I think my experience has to do with the rpm ranges that I like to stay in. I have a habit of keeping rpms below 2500 on my 3rd gen (I like to be easy on the engine and trans). In that same range in my 5th gen i feel I get less power than my 3rd gen.

I just did a 1000 mile trip with a lot of hills in my 5th gen and based on that experience concluded that I prefer the "feel" of my 3rd gen power delivery. The 5th gen has power but as mentioned above, comes in the higher RPM (around 3 K). The trans is also programmed to stay in higher gears...

this is why i hate things when they are new and love them when they are old and broken in. The pitted, worn out wheels on my '98 allow me to enjoy that truck more than my '14 with its pristine and perfect wheels
