I tried turning the steering wheel when I started, yes, until it locked in place like it was supposed to, but that still didn't help the key move at all. I don't have a spare key to try, as that certainly would've been the first thing I tried and would've helped diagnose the problem.

This morning I tried to start up my 4runner, and after I stuck the key in the ignition, it would not turn at all. I tried jiggling the steering wheel to maybe unlock...something, but the key would still not budge even a little bit. I'm thinking it's the starter column not recognizing the key...
