have you checked your transmission fluid? I know that sounds odv. but , I had some problems with it poping out of gear and turns out the oil was getting hot and spraying out. didn't know it at the time. I ended up adding a transmission cooler and everything is ok now.

I think adding the acietone to your fuel would not hurt anything, it is such a small amount that it wouldn't dammange anything..
