I have the Yakima round bars mounted on top of the factory roof rack. The bars extend maybe 6-8" each side beyond the factory rails. The Thule roof box goes on the passenger side, and either SUP, kayak, skis or bike goes on the other. The cheap SUP goes straight on the bars while the nice one...

It is not easy - those clips are a real pain to separate from the outside, and they may/will brake. Probably easier if you can get to them from the inside (e.g. dismantling door trim). Maybe there's some other trick that I don't know of. I'd say that it is a lot of work to get all of these...
