    Paddleboards on the gen 4s

I have the Yakima round bars mounted on top of the factory roof rack. The bars extend maybe 6-8" each side beyond the factory rails. The Thule roof box goes on the passenger side, and either SUP, kayak, skis or bike goes on the other. The cheap SUP goes straight on the bars while the nice one...

Is your 4th gen your forever vehicle? Why or why not?

I've had mine for 15 years and do not plan to change anytime soon. 175K miles, V8, 4x4, never let me down. I'd like to get to 250K. The only thing that would cause a change is a 6th gen 4Runner ... if the new model looks like an upgrade I might buy one to get another 15+ years of trouble-free...

Question about the '03 body pieces

It is not easy - those clips are a real pain to separate from the outside, and they may/will brake. Probably easier if you can get to them from the inside (e.g. dismantling door trim). Maybe there's some other trick that I don't know of. I'd say that it is a lot of work to get all of these...

Suspension upgrades for better handling. Advice, comments?

It's refreshing to have a suspension thread that's not about the lift! I've had my SR5 V8 since 2004. I don't recall ever encountering significant understeer and I don't drive it like an old lady either. Sure, there's body roll and general floatiness, but how hard to you have to drive it to...

to repaint an '04 or not?

I think that as long as you are sure you want to keep the vehicle and the shop does good work (check yelp reviews), this seems reasonable to me. That's a lot of labor and the paint is not cheap. 2-3 weeks seems a bit over the top though, maybe they're just busy and fitting you around other...

    Contemplating whether I should buy a 4th gen 4runner

I'm 6'5" and bought my 4th Gen V8 4Runner in 2003. Still going strong today at 175K miles. I recommend finding one without a sunroof to get about another 1.5" of headroom. Since you live in Europe and petrol may be more expensive there, you should make sure that the fuel economy is going to...

Which tire position will wear faster on V8 4x4?

Put it on any wheel you like. Rotate the other 4 wheels until your OCD is satisfied. :)

    4. Buy required parts from cheapest online Toyota dealer. Have installed at a local shop, so you don't have to pay dealer labor rates.

The Longest-Lasting Cars Over 200,000 Miles – 2017 Study Shows SUVs Dominate

I completely agree. This doesn't really say all that much about vehicle durability. The Expedition is top because Ford used to sell > 200K of them a year, but now they only sell 30-40K. This means that most Expeditions left on the road are old, and generally have higher mileage. Same story for...

Need 17" wheels with more offset - suggestions please

Snow chains should go on the rear wheels. Stock wheels with those tires should be fine for clearance on the rear. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Yakima crossbars, Thule crossbar measurements?

I have the Yakima round bars on top of the factory rails. From the roof to the top of the bars, I measured 4" at the roof centerline and 5" at the rails.
