Yeah, even though it's "not related to the P0420", if you leave your gas cap loose, it will be the code you receive.

I only learned this trick after replacing the O2 sensors and having the code come back within two weeks. Cleaning the MAF clears the code for several months. My '97 has 276k miles and gets 300-400 miles per week at a solid 17mpg.

Before you replace any parts, try cleaning the Mass Airflow Sensor. My '97 SR5 throws that code every few months. I just pop out the sensor, spray it clean, let it dry and reinstall. Clear the codes and you'll be good for a while. Also, check to make sure your fuel cap doesn't have a...

There's piles of snow on a rust free Texas 4runner. In the center on the truck, is a Texas symbol. Running in 4hi with 30 psi gives me about 15.5 mpg. It's handling the snow with no issues but the mileage sucks.

Oh, also, if you kill the engine, a 440HP engine from a Chrylser Cordoba is nearly a drop-in engine with fender well exit headers. Reliants and LeBarons were good swaps for drag cars.

Amazons has a good deal on the airaid m.i.t. I just installed on my '97 sr5. The power gains and sound are pretty sweet. Yesterday it made 900 mile trip and averaged my best mileage ever; 20.58 mpg. And that was with a hitch hauler full of Xmas goodies hanging on the back.
