8000 mile internation trip is a go!

Trip success! Finished the trip and it was a blast! The kids traveled great which amounted for long days. Tried to average around 600 miles/day with a few 1K's in there. Will post more pics later.

Negative. There will be a ratchet strap going through the handles hooked to the underside of the trailer on both ends.

Well of course it sounds bad when you use logic instead of whatever I used! And in all reality I've had to purchase nothin except the gas cans ($40 off CL, one was full too). I have the 3 ratchet straps: front, back, and in the middle going through the gas can handles. And all of the wood was...

You've got a good eye!!! And it's being sold up here as I can't afford to take with and its not ship worthy due to its non functioning parking brake. If you were closer I'd sell it to ya ;) And we do. $0.19 a mile driven, just looking to minimize all moving costs to benefit us financially. And...

    Please help!

Thanks There should be a good amount of the heavy "unneeded during trip" stuff up front. I'm going to center the cans on the trailer as well (moved forward from what you see in the picture for that reason alone and to have 2 cross beam Supports under it instead of just 1.

    Please help!

Had everything I needed A perfectly cut piece of 3/4" plywood, sections of pine to make a box around the cans. And straps. I plan on using 6 gopro adhesive pads attached to metal plates on the wood to hold it down to the trailer (you guys may be scratching your heads but those adhesives are...

While that's true I'm trying to avoid paying for a litre there what we pay for a gallon here. Luckily I figured it all out! Pictures coming soon!

That's okay Phil! Thank you for trying, I greatly appreciate it! Shipping things to Alaska is so expensive. Lowest rate for a small rack is 800. Overnight shipping is 2000. Most places up here "place orders" with nothing on the shelf. Toyota OEM it is.

Looks like it Looks like that's what I'll have to go with is a basic set of cross bars to mount the cheap basket to. Just don't want to push the weight on those rails too much (I think they have a max weight near 100 lbs...which is sad

Well hello Phil, sorry no disrespect meant. Just cautious these days. Should have thought that through better when picking my Username. But yes I'm active.

    Please help!

I've thought about that but I'm Unsure of the roof being able to hold 20 gallons of fuel for long periods. Plus it's a single axle short trailer so it'll bounce a lot. 120Lbs of liquid may break the top as it's pretty flimsy. I'll have to look for tie down mounts and maybe place it on a piece of...

About to embark on our 8000 mile cross continent trip. Running into a bit of an issue. I have four 5 gallon gas cans. No crossbars on the top. I was going to get a universal fit $100 basket rack from wal Mart to hold them on the roof but realized it won't just mount to the side rails. Living in...
