My struts are shot as well, I just use a pair of Vise-Grips on the cylinder once the hood is up. Cheap solution for those not wanting to buy new struts.

I had the same problem after my daystar lift install. The wire itself was not broken but one of the wires was broken loose from the sensor itself, so you may not be able to feel the break in the wire but like they said. If you can not feel the break you need to take the wires and pull that...

Don't know if it helps but if you look in the owners manual under "lock/unlock options" you can program all the doors to unlock when the truck is shifted into "PARK". That way you don't have to physically unlock the doors with the button to get into the back doors.
