No power after head gasket replacement and valve job!!!

The check engine light never came on for me, but the shop said it kicked on while they were taking it for a drive. It's a good thing too, or those idiots wouldn't have ever figured it out.

No power after head gasket replacement and valve job!!!

Update: after nine total weeks, I finally have my rig back. The tps was bad and it took the shop an additional two weeks to figure it out. All told the head gaskets, water pump, timing belt, throttle position sensor, a couple of valves, and an injector were replaced. I am glad to have it done...

No power after head gasket replacement and valve job!!!

Sorry for the lack of updates, I have not heard back from the shop yet. That may be in part because of the holiday, but I also think it is because they move at a snail's pace over there. They have now had the rig for seven weeks and I am sure that if they had figured it out yet, they would have...

    Hesitation with no top-end power.

So what did you find when you got in there? My rig is having the same symptoms that you were describing AFTER the shop did a valve job and new head gaskets, so I am wandering if they got the clearances right, or if there may be another explanation.

No power after head gasket replacement and valve job!!!

In the interest of time I will keep the details to a minimum, but after having my rig in the shop for six weeks to replace the head gaskets, do a valve job, replace the water pump and timing belt, and replace a faulty injector, I finally got my baby back. And it now has the torque of a Jazzy...

94 4runner swap to manual hubs

Someone else set me straight if I am wrong on this one, but you should just need to swap out the hubs. No need to swap the CV's.

    Looking for Moog Springs.

Hang on to that girlfriend! The most exciting thing I ever got from my in-laws (aside from my wife) was a rice cooker. Thanks for the advice everyone. It looks like caughing up the $60 for new springs is my best bet.

    Looking for Moog Springs.

What kind of coil spacers have you seen work? I tried the ones with two plates and two bolts that spread and keep the coil from compressing and they don't work well. They invariably shift over time and make for a very stiff ride. I have been flirting with trying the spacers that you put above...

    Looking for Moog Springs.

I am trying to rid my rig of the terrible booty-sag but I cannot afford new springs (grad student). I live in northern Utah (I know, the name says Vegas, but again, grad school) and there is very little in terms of junk yards anywhere near me. Does anyone have a pair of longer-than-stock springs...

Herculiner/ Dulicolor Armour in the snow?

I have been flirting with bedcoating the entire exterior of my '93 for some time now, but a question came up that I wanted ask before I pull the trigger. I like the herculiner and duplicolor products because of the rough finish that they provide (vs a smoother raptor or monstaliner) but my...

    Manual hub question.

    That's great, thanks!

    Manual hub question.

I just got my manual hubs in the mail and they came (used) without the six bolts that connect the cap to the hub body. Does anyone know the specs on those bolts so I can go pick some up? Also, what are the torque numbers for those bolts?;I was hoping to put these on tonight so I can have a...

4 1st gens at nearby yard - grab stuff?

Ditto on the manual hubs if there are enough to go around.

Unknown squeal at startup - don't think its the belts.

OK, so my schedule and the weather finally decided to cooperate. I had the morning free and it was a whopping 25 degrees outside. The culprit turned out to be the tensioner pulley on the ac belt. It's bearings were seized solid and a new pulley and belt did the trick. Thanks for all of your...
