What did you do with your 4runner today?

HAHA!. I noticed that too when I took the pic and started looking for exhaust tips last night. I got rear ended in 2019 and the end piece got replaced. I didn’t really care at the time but after I took that pic, I noticed it and realized how bad it looks:) New exhaust tip going on ASAP!

What did you do with your 4runner today?

Almost 21 years without engine issues until now. So, after 20 years and 8months, I finally had a head gasket failure. I bought this 4Runner new in late Feb 2005, and it's been my daily ever since...so many good memories, getting the front/top end rebuild was a no brainer. Here she is after I...

P0300,p0305,p0306 codes plus flashing check engine light, VSC/trac, and slip indicaor

An arm and a leg for sure. Labor of course was the most expensive, around $4600. This is the Austin, TX area and had it done at Bearden Automotive, they are Toyota and Lexus specialists.

P0300,p0305,p0306 codes plus flashing check engine light, VSC/trac, and slip indicaor

Got the 4R yesterday and drove it to work today. Engine feels smooth and purrs like a kitty. She’s back to normal after the rebuild. Now, need to find replacement tires.

    IMHO 2025 4Runner is a POS

Whah whah whah…every 4th gen owner was saying the same thing about the new 5th gens when they came out…too boxy…too much plastics….whah whah…I’ve owned my 2005 4R since new and currently getting the engine rebuilt do due to blown head gasket at 208,850 miles. 20.5 years without any issues other...

P0300,p0305,p0306 codes plus flashing check engine light, VSC/trac, and slip indicaor

I’ve been chasing a P0301 code since mid June. I’ve owned my 2005 V6 Sport 4R since new. I decided to change all plugs, ignition coils, and lastly the fuel injectors….still with rough idle at cold start. So I decided to take pull the coil and look inside the #1 cylinder head. Not good...

Where to buy 06+ HL assy endpiece

Here is the part, with part numbers. I did the 06-09 headlight conversion on my 05 4R and bought the headlights from Toyota and needed this piece too. You’re welcome. 53935-35020 Protector. I tried to upload the pic of invoice but I get an upload failure. I believe the part is interchangeable...

Friend selling 4Runner. There are some issues though.

O2 sensor codes? I’m still on the original O2 sensors on my 2005. I’ve owned it for 20 years(bought it new Feb 2005). From what I’ve read is that sensors should always be Toyota sensors, not some off brand or aftermarket. You can try and cheap out but lots of people have issues. I would make...

    Turn Signal LED Hyperflash Solution

I’ve had the Auxito LED turn signal bulbs with built in resistors on the front and back turn signal bulbs. Plug and play and much brighter. Highly recommended.

Who is upgrading in 2025 and to what?

I’m planing to get a 2028 6th Gen. I bought my 2005 Sport V6 4R new in March 2005. Blown engines, failed transmissions, 4 cylinder turbo, blah blah won’t deter me from making the purchase. I love the new look of the 6th Gen and really love the TRD PRO which I’m budgeting $65-70K paying in cash...

Transfer case gaskets? Is dealer correct?

I was at the Toyota dealer and got the gaskets for the front/rear differential and transfer case. These are the gaskets you will need with included part numbers. J.A’s website Top4runners.com has pictures of the gaskets that you need and the process to change it out. I’m about to do this project...

Anyone have an iDatalink Maestro installed?

Update 5/14/24….So I wanted CarPlay in my stereo so I bought another kenwood gps unit with CarPlay around 2019. In doing so, I had to update the Maestro unit as well as the old unit wasn’t compatible with my new head unit. When I did this, I was able to get tire pressure AND tire temperature...

    Fixing timing cover reseal

$7500 for a timing cover seal leak??? I had this job done out of warranty for my 2005 4R and paid $1800 for the timing cover reseal, water pump, thermostat, serpentine belt, and full transmission flush. This was done at about 150,000…I think it was done in 2015 or 2016. currently have 198,400...

Any Catastrophic Mechanical Failures in High Mileage Trucks?

Yes, my 2005 had a very slow timing cover leak. It wasn’t even losing a lot of oil. At the time I had it fixed(2018) I had owned my 4R for 13 years and planning to own it forever. I shopped around for quotes around my area. I got a discount coupon for service at the Round Rock dealer location...

Wheel and Tire updates to the 4R

WOW! Thanks for all you do with the 4R community. Your 4R still looks good after all these years, I’m not surprised but you do a helluva job. I’m still rocking the original sport wheels on my 2005 which I’ve had for 19 years. Updating the wheels/tires for our 20 year anniversary is on top of the...
