Do you have an auto tranny and, if so, does the squeak stop when you manually down shift? I had a similar problem and went through the same things. Ended up being the painful screams of my dying transmission...

Does it seem right that a '99 with 94k miles would need a new transmission? I posted a thread regarding a squealing noise and I am being told by a mechanic that it need a new tranny. Thanks.

It is while coasting and I am at 93k. I was farting around on my way to work and the noise goes way when I down shift into second gear (auto trans)...

Hey - my rig has developed quite a loud squeal recently. It only occurs when I am cruising and it mostly happens when it's cold (<35). I checked the belts and all looked good. I stopped by the local garage to ask what they thought and they checked and tightened the belts, but still the squeal...
