    wally's 87 4runner upkeep thread

for '87 #2, after doing the engine rebuild, i had noticed some coolant loss happening (although not actually loss). after extended interstate driving, the expansion reservoir would be overfull, and as the engine (and coolant) cooled, the expanded coolant would not return to the radiator. thus...

took #2 again on a round trip from NH to MI. visited the inlaws in southern MI, and then went to north central MI to the camp. drove great, mostly kept it to 65 or less, even in northern MI where the limit is 75. 2,040 miles, left last thursday, got home today (6 days). averaged a tic over...

    COB's 1990 4Runner 2-Door

nice scores, especially the 2-door. i’ve always liked the 2-door versions. looks to be in great condition for the price you paid. around here, the nitwits think their trashed, rusted, beat junker is worth $6k minimum.

    wally's 87 4runner upkeep thread

#2 was a NC vehicle up until i bought it in 2018. as such, some of the interior plastic trim was a bit brittle, but complete. the panels on the B-pillar were a good example - not bad, but some minor cracks and tiny pieces broken off. i removed them a few days ago. note the upper corners...

    I’m so dumb, help!

you'll need to do better than "it's leaking from somewhere". we aren't there to see it, only you are. describe exactly where the leak is, not where it isn't.

    1st Gen T4R Picture Gallery

saw that one ^^^ on c-list a week or so ago. looked to be solid, albeit with the blown headgasket. are you positive the seats were swapped out? my '87 #1 sr5 had the same seats (which i have since swapped out for the sport seats). check the matching rear seat fabric. i wouldn't be surprised...

    wally's 87 4runner upkeep thread

when swapping on the 32x11.5 wheels/tires, noticed that the passenger side outer tie rod end was loose (failing, the nut was still tight). ordered a replacement, and installed it the other day. having the pitman arm/tie rod puller makes it a breeze. took care of the slight wobble, which...
