How would I check for proper function? I don't want to just start buying switches only to find it's another problem.

All the lights. Dash, ac/heat panel, etc. Come to think of it, the radio doesn't light up either, but I'm not sure it ever worked. The clock does work however.

Ok that was so easy I feel pretty embarrassed for asking! I don't know how I didn't discover that for myself. Rustproofing is done, so bring on winter!

So one more hurdle, I have the panel loose but the door handle appears firmly rooted in place. I have the screw removed but the mechanism is acting like it's still attached somehow. Does it pop out somehow? It won't move even when I pull the latch to open the door.

Out of curiosity, what's the trick to removing the door panel? I have the three screws out at the door handle and the two in the arm rest, but I don't know if the remaining clips are the push/snap or lift/pull variety. I don't want to bust the clips off trying to figure it out, and of course...
