(For V6 owners only) would you trade-in your V6 for V8 if...

If you need to tow a trailer or a boat, there is no choice. V8 it is unless you want to live with "adequate power". Adequate only for flat roads, try uphill towing and see if it's still "adequate".

    wind noise

I hope the windshield is not part of the "roll over safety system" like those used in the Ford Explorer. They found out that in a roll over the Windshield usually poped and could not be counted on as part of the support. I hope Toyota would place safety higher than cost and have at least some...

Crappy gas mileage on 4x4 V8

It's a V8 and 4WD! Why do you need better mileage? If you want better mileage, get a RAV4. We need more global warming and Iraq Wars because Americans need to drive big gas guzzlers. At least 4 runners gets TWICE as many miles per gallon as Hummers or Cadilacs.

wife backed into my 4runner - pics

I just went through almost the samething because someone at the parking lot did the same number to my Wife's and then took off so I had decide if it's worth taking to the body shop or do it myself. I decided to do it myself but let me tell you it was not easy (and I took Body shop when I was in...

    driver seat modification

You may consider trying a neoprene seat cover. I too had problem and was constantly adjusting the driver seat and never found a comfortable position. Then I decide to buy a cover (actualy from costco that's custom made for the 4 runner). The thicker material seemed to fill in all the gaps I...

    wind noise

some people have better hearing (like me). When you are traveling at 45 MPH or higher, there are lots of road noise but the fact that Toyota 4 runner has wind noise (it's basically a leak or poor seal) does not change simply because someone cannot hear the noise. Off to the dealer I go... My...

    wind noise

It's not the cross bars. Mine were lined up perfectly with the arrows. Some of you may not be as sensitive to wind noise. Everyone's hearing is slightly different. But the wind noise is definitely there on mine. Feels like something like the weather seal is not 100%. I am going to take it...

    wind noise

I have a 2006 SR5 and I also noticed the wind noise from the upper part of the windshield when going above 45MPH. It was very hard to detect the source initially because you have to at sufficient speed (45 or higher) and very quite to hear it. But it is definitely there. It is annoying...

    Unplugging The Battery

I noticed my auto headlights off circuit was also resetted. I left the lights on, opened and closed the driver door, set the alarm and on second try, the headlights went off after 30 seconds as they should.

DRL mod disabled auto power window and headlight time-out

I did not disconnect the battery terminal. Maybe I should have as a safe thing but I didn't. However, to get to the fuse box and install the relay, I did have to unplug all the connectors to the fusebox so that maybe equivalent to disconnecting the power to the ECU? sorry about the duplicate...

DRL mod disabled auto power window and headlight time-out

You are right!!! RX900 The system did "rel-earn" everything. It took about 30 minutes (maybe less, but I was driving it around). It's pretty scary how changing a mechanical relay changes the parameters to the ECU and the system re-learns itself. thank you very much!
