Can't be certain about the 4Runner computers but almost all new vehicles have adaptive learning computers. Primarily ECM and TCM. These systems are great but can cause issues as values can become "frozen" and cause abnormal NVH (noise vibration harshness)

You can, it won't change anything. On my Tacoma the icon uniballs were insanely tight. I could make a U Turn and if I didn't straighten the wheel the truck would just turn in circles. After a thousand miles or so it was back to normal operation. The Total Chaos on my 4Runner were higher effort...

Totally normal. Once the uniballs break in it will return to normal operation.
