Yeah as you can see it splits open on my hood. I imagine its thinner here and gets beat by the sun more. Obviously some are chips but a rock chip doesnt cause the slit seperation areas. My hood is riddled with them.

Got my letter. The front lip of my hood has rock chips like crazy but it also has spider cracks where you can see the unchipped paint just peeling in a pattern like a small flower bud would open. So I am hoping my hood gets repainted.

Mine will catch like this every once in a while. I drive a 2010 w/143k on the clock. I bought it with 136k so I dont know its driver history. I just make sure I wait a few seconds when switching from R to D. For me it's not as massive a jolt like described by OP.

Toyota used the TE (Trail edition) as its offroad model. TE replaced TRD from (2010-2013) . TRD pro came out in 2014 with the refreshed body style. The stickers like you see on 3rd gen were never used on any 5th gen from 2010 to present.
