Mystery solved! So after getting a cap and plugging that port, i pulled my 4 runer out and while i swept up the garage floor i found a factory cap!! So turns out that port is suposed to be sealed up

thanks man, ya im waiting on the intake gasket injector orings and knock sensor harness and already have the plenum gaskets so hopefully there wont be anymore surprises and i can get back on the road soon. it woulda been a nightmare sourcing parts and appropriate steps wihout your post!!

well after a lot of cleaning, finally got the intake off and it looks to be excatly like you guys said the seals around the coolant channels were degraded and leaking.. now just gotta wait on parts! if anyone is doing their intake manifold gasket i wanted to give a heads up that the 4 studs on...

im pretty glad i caught the water pump before it popped, its exactly 90km since the timing belt was last change so cheers to recomended service intervals (however im not sure if just the timing belt was done and the water pump was left as the pump and tensioner pully were in rough shape) my 4...

i figured i was reaching with the coolant fling theory.. i should have mentioned that the reason im in the engine this deep is im doing timing belt, water pump, cam/crank seal, belts, thermostat, radiator, pcv valve, valve cover gaskets, plugs, wires.. so im going to add intake manifold gasket...

thanks for the responses guys!! i pulled timing covers off and the water pump was leaking and i have a sizeable coolant deposit just below the cam seal (i attached a few pics) any chance that the water pump leaked coolant onto the timing belt kicking coolant up and dumping on the intake...

Im curious to know if you discovered the origin of the leak? and how you resolved it. i have the same issue, im doing my timing belt and i noticed a similar coolant leak on the intake manifold
