I would LOVE to know what you end up doing for a solution. My 2002 4runner just developed this problem today.

My apologies for the engine bay not being cleaner. I havent had a chance to do my regular spring cleaning yet, so all the salt, sand, and dirt from winter is still lingering in the engine bay!

I've got the intake kit with the filter. To be honest with you I cant tell any performance gains from stock, but the intake noise is substantially louder. It growls at anything over 3500 RPMS now, which I enjoy. I've seen no increase in MPG as well (wasnt expecting any when i purchased it)...

If this is happening at idle for you, it's normal. Reason being is that the alternator isnt charging much, if at all, at anything below 1500 RPM. Once it gets above that you would see the output of the charging system be something in the neighborhood of 14 volts. It will vary from car to car...

Using 10w40 should not be a recommendation based on mileage. Stick with the recommended 5w30 or 10w30 if that is all they offer in the high mileage version. The only thing the 10w40 will do is shear down quicker (more viscocity index improvers) and create more drag internally in the engine...

The 4th gen 17" sport edition wheels looke worlds better than the 18" limited wheels, in my opinion. Try the search function next time...found these on yotatech. 18" limited wheels

There is a pic of those wheels on a 3rd gen on either here or yotatech. The backspacing is different so the wheels sit further inside the fenders - looks a bit goofy. Guess you could try them with spacers

Mine came with screws and plastic push-in inserts that popped into the hood itself. After the insert was installed you buzzed the screw into it. Dont wast your time with these. Run to your local hardware store, buy some threaded rubber screw gommets, stainless screws, and washers. you can...

I am running them on my '02. They are definetly firmer than stock, which at first, I wasnt too keen on. Now, If I drive anyone else's car, everything feels too soft to me. Needless to say Im happy with the choice to go with these vs. OEM.

What ya do at this point is take it somewhere else for a second opinion. A couple of those prices seem outrageous to me. $815 for shocks?! I had all new Bilsteins installed for less than $600. $950 for the seals and bearings sounds about 400 too high to me. And what kind of alignment costs...
