In the brochure for my 1991, it is a class 2 and towing was rated at 3500. that is with the 3.0L V-6

If you just want to test the pressure holding of the system, nitrogen works good and if it leaks out no one cares. Make sure you have a good regulator for the tank and it is set very low.
