Buying a new to me 4runner, couple of questions

I have an 06 and it only has 36k on it - I don't think you need to worry about the low mileage. You could check the service records (hopefully the previous owner took it to a toyota dealer, in which case all the records would be online).

    Is it totalled? Opinions please

Looks like it should be an easy wreck call for the insurance company. I'm really sorry this happened to you and your family - having been there myself I'd say it was one of the more traumatic and not easily overcome experiences of my life. I hope you are all okay.

    Warranty/Maintenance question

I bought mine certified. Turned out way after the fact that it had had 3 plug repairs on the tires (only found this out because the tire pressure light kept coming on). The original dealership was shhhaaaaaddyyyyyy, but my local dealer told me what the problem was (confirmed by looking at the...

4th Gen 4Runner in Police Chase!

That'll buff out. No problem. Just needs a little wax. The damage done to the idiot's teeth when they gave him an asphalt kiss? Not so much.

    Anyone Use The Extended Warranty

I am super glad I got the extended warranty on my truck (I paid too much for it at the time though...urgh, the perils of not reading this website first :) It got me: new brake pads, turned rotors, new master cylinder system, and a couple other things. The master cylinder replacement alone paid...

    Is this a Major Problem?

As to whether there is a problem with your diff lock, I am not sure - I'll leave that to the off road experts. As to the Certified warranty - it's pretty much bumper to bumper so if you have any trouble with the truck take it back. If you don't like what the dealer says then take it to a...

READ!! Toyota wanted to buy mine back!

I get one of those cards in the mail every month or so, and my truck is just a black SR5 06...nothing out of the ordinary (well, except to me...I think it's great :). They'll claim to give you way above bluebook, but the 'deal' is only that good if you buy a new car. That said, I have heard...

    Sell it or store it??

What I should have said at the beginning of my first post was that I hope you are okay, and I'm sorry you are having to deal with all of this. It must be very scary for you and your family. I know what you mean on the whether to sell or not - we are moving to a city, probably can't get garage...

    Sell it or store it??

Probably a silly question, but do you have a family member who would want to drive it for a year and pay you for the privilege? Would your car loan allow for that? Might be a way around the problem. Other than that, I think the other comments are very instructive. You could always go to a...

READ!! Toyota wanted to buy mine back!

Wait...dealers don't tell the truth? That reminds me - I have a bridge to sell. It's in London. I'll do you a sweet deal.

2005 4Runner With 29850 Milles and New Front Brakes?

My 06 needed new brake pads and the rotors skimmed at 27k. Previous owner had let it sit outside undriven for a longish period and rust had built up. That said, we only got the steering wheel vibration and a little of the noise (not a whole lot). Take it along to your Toyota dealership -...

going to get first 4runner, what should I know?

Check for rust around the tailgate (the seals and the license plate garnish). Check the master cylinder operation - in a few cases it can make the brake pedal vibrate. If you can get a Limited or one with Limited leather seats then consider it - the leather seats are way more comfy than the...

    97 4runner wreck

If that's your truck then I'm really sorry - I hope you are okay. I can't answer the second question. As to the first: That truck looks somewhat like what my 2000 4Runner truck looked like when it was declared wrecked - and it was an easy decision for the shop to make (the guy pretty much...

    WTB: 03-06 4runner

I agree with the last poster - for the sort of money you are looking to spend I think you should consider adding a later year 3rd Gen to your search - the Limiteds have all the bells and whistles and if they have had their major services completed (also check out the cats) you'd get a great truck.

Things that you wish you could fix on your T4R

To begin with this is what the dealer told me. But then I had a tech look at it and compare it to other 4Runners. My pedal was buzzing/vibrating all over the place every time I braked - to the point that it was an arguably dangerous distraction. Turned out there was something up with the master...
