    4th Gen Is...Great!

2003-2009 4th Gen doesn't get much love from some folks, but I think it's one of the better generations.

Coolant suddenly dropping in reservoir! 272K miles

How old is the radiator? They're know to start weeping in the lower corners when they get older.

How do I know when nmy drive belt needs replacing?

This! The serpentine belt is cheap and easy to replace, and so are the belt idlers. You'll save a boat-load of money if you learn to do some of this basic maintenance yourself.

    09 Crazy Gas Mileage

I routinely get around 20mpg / 400+ miles per tank from my V6. I'm not a lead-foot and have been known to hyper mile on occasion.

jeep gladiator up to 20k offf

I'd have to disagree with your statement, especially when it comes to a 4Runner. I'll gladly take the initial depreciation hit buying new, cuz what I'm getting in return is a 20-year, 500K vehicle with basic (driveway) maintenance. Heck, my '05 still runs and drive like new, it's been paying...

Maybe There Wont Be a 6th Gen 4Runner

X2. I own a 4th and 5th gen from new and the 4th is head and shoulders above the 5th in terms of quality. If I could only own one, it'd be a 4th all the way!

    New Calipers

This! I'm going on 4+ years on my Element 3 calipers (Northeast) and they've been great. Prior to the Elements, I was replacing the re-mans every 2-years like clockwork.

    Tailgate jam rust

I wouldn't even try to save that tailgate. Pull another tailgate off a parts 5th gen and call it a day.

Front Inside Caliper Pistons Not Compressing Fully

Check out the Raybestos Element 3 calipers....they're a brand new caliper, not a crappy re-man. I installed a set 4-years ago and have had no issues. Prior to that I was replacing the re-mans every year or two.

What did everyone pay for their 4th gen?

Is it 4WD? Post up a few more pics if you can!

How to remove the gas cover?

Nuts and bolts work just fine. I used a stainless 10-32 phillips head with a serrated flange nut, its held great. Tricky part is pealing back the rubber spacer around the filler neck and catching the nut on the screw.

    WTB OEM Spare Steelies

Looking for 17"x7" OEM (spare) steel rims for a gen 5 project. Would prefer clean take-offs without tire if possible. What u got?

    More caliper failures!

You guys should try the Raybestos Element 3 calipers, they're brand new, not re-maned and don't require a core exchange. Several years ago I installed a set on my '05 and (so far) they've been great. I live in the northeast and the winter road-salt played hell on any of the after market...
