ATRAC is a great system but it will only get you so far. When you get into really technical situations having a locker gives you more control. ATRAC is like a bucking bronco that can get you in trouble in tippy situations. That is why I eventually gave up and installed an elocker!
I've have about 170,000 miles on my 12 yr old truck. I've given it gas while offroad from jerry cans, filled up in sketchy gas stations in Baja Mexico. The fuel tank filter is just fine. Your looking to solve a problem that isn't there and potentially adding a huge failure point. I'd say it's...
It will fit but I think you need to ask yourself if you really want the heaviest aftermarket bumper tacked onto your front clip. I believe it’s 200+ lbs with no winch.

When you drive in very remote places with technical terrain these tools and spare parts are 100% necessary in my opinion.
If you are "overlanding" as defined by people in the US aka cruising graded dirt roads. Then yes you're right in that scenario carrying things like a spare CV axle is...
This is the load out that I carry full time
Minus the cv axle I only bring that on rowdy trails.
-Full set of Metric / SAE sockets + 35mm socket
-Full set of Metric / SAE wrenches
-Plumbers wrench for inner tie rods
-Hammers
-Hex wrenches
-Pliers, screwdrivers, channel locks
-Spare inner and...
There aren't really options that are viable outside of a snorkel. The main reason I put one on is because I removed my inner fender liners to fit larger tires. There was no other option especially since I do the occasional deep water crossing intentionally and accidentally from time to time...
Awesome tip!
I think you laid this out before but in those 354K what OEM parts have failed and needed to be replaced? I think you are one of the very few folks on here that really beat on their truck offroad and also have high mileage. I know whenever I go out I get slightly paranoid things...
You forgot about my 300 lb rear bumper, propane tank and mount, 100 lbs of tools and spare parts :)
For the use case you describe I would probably stick as close as you can to OEM style parts. It's always a balance of capability, decreased reliability, increased maintenance etc. It's up to you...
For sure, you can also throw in the new 74Weld portals into that mix. So many options out there for our platform these days which is great. One thing to consider though is the maintenance upkeep and reliability impact a lot of these aftermarket parts introduce with heavy offroad use. I seem to...
Isn't that kind of the point of this forum? To get opinions from folks who've had experience in these things we're asking about? I know that is the value I've gotten from this place all these years. I never said I was an expert in suspension hence my recommendation to talk to Filthy Motorports...
What is "heavy load"? I have dual batteries, dual compressor, a bunch of offroad lights, solar controller, winch, full winch bumper. So probably one of the heaviest configs you can have and I'm running 650lb springs with zero preload at 2.5" in of lift. Hell I think I could probably get away...
